ex-CN "Haliburton" Sub

Over Thanksgiving weekend this year, I had the opprotunity to "railfan" the ex- Canadian National Haliburton Sub north of Kinmount, Ontario. Officially abandoned in the early 1980's, this 57 mile short line opened up some very rural area's of Central Ontario. The life blood of the Haliburton Sub. was pulpwood and wood alcohol to and from the General Chemical plant at Donald, Ontario (pictures hopefully coming soon). This rail line is now used as an all purpose trail; skiiers, and snowmobilers using it in winter, and 4-Wheeler's, horseback riders, hikers, bicyclers and railfans using it in summer. So far I have had the chance to photograph the Kinmount Station, and 2 bridges of the line between Kinmount and Gelert, Ontario. I hope to have the chance to do more railfanning soon, hopefully by snowmobile enabling me to get better angle shots of bridges. Photos will be posted if this trip happens. It was a nice warm day with lots of sunlight when I had the chance to once again get back to Haliburton County. Our means of transportation for "railfanning" that day can be seen in the final photo.
