The second ever episode of The Happy Hour was another technical feat for us.. We
went in with all kinds of 3D technology and A LOT of blue screening effects to create
our next episode. Now due to the fact that this episode was never
completed in 1996 due to the unfortunate and devastating event that took place
where our dear best friend Daniel Patrick Miner was killed in a Car accident on
April 18th, 1997. After this we never finished filming the second episode.
Then after 6 long years, I (Joe Vitale Jr.) dug up the original Second episode
masters and decided it was time to edit this wonderfully and superbly filmed
piece of video art. The digital conversion process took some time but was
very worth the time. It came out perfectly and the DVD burn of it is truly
amazing. Now due to some copyright problems this episode was never
intended to air or be sold but it resides here for others to view if
interested. But again as our disclaimer says we are not responsible for
this due to it being an education project.
At any rate, this episode of The Happy Hour is more movie based then bit
based. This show focuses more on parody of pre-existing movies and making
a variation of them similar to movies like "Scary Movie" and "The
Naked Gun" Movies. Some of our first work in this area was on our
original 3 films we created for our English and Chemistry classes. This
belonging to "Project X" our personal DVD which has the parodies of "Julius
Caesar", "Rip Van Winkle", and Raiders of the Lost Mole"
Based on (Raiders of the Lost Ark). These films became the backbone for
our unique and sometimes corny sense of humor. But the kids love us, so
you got to love it anyway.
When I went back to re-edit this film, it took nearly 3 months to digitize and
add special effects and sound FX. The whole data drives were equal to 15
Gig of files and nearly 20 Gig of extra files for the creation process. Definitely
a lot of extra work, but the outcome was well worth the time and
effort.
And so now that you know about this you are probably wondering where we would go
from this point. (Slight Pause) And here is what we decided to
do. Using pre existing footage taken from the Masters and combining new
footage filmed in 2002, we are in the designing Stages of "Episode
III". This will be one of the most advanced THHs because of all
the new technology in filming with DV. Time for finish is unknown at this
point because we honestly have no idea when we will begin or finish. But
please standby and look for it. We will create it!
