The Happy Hour was a massive effort brought on by 4 friends with a great
idea. We formed "The happy Hour" in January of 1995 and we
worked every weekend for over 7 months writing and recording the show. We
then brought it to AOL-Time Warner Cable and aired the first episode on August
16th, 1995 and again on September 23rd, 1995.
We brought all kinds of ideas to the project. This show actually started
due to a show we messed around with in early January called "Thinking with
Dan Miner". This show actually made it into the final show but was
redone and re-filmed. We then decided to go forward with doing a full hour
episode instead of the originally conceived idea of only a half hour show for
time expediency. Some of our best ideas brought forth: "The Sausage Shop",
"Elevator Madness", "Top Eleven with Kevin Specht",
"Southern Getaway", and many many many many many more...
After we finished several months of recording we had to redo all the music due
to copyright violations. This wasn't a major problem because we are all
musicians. Kevin Specht and myself (Joe Vitale Jr.) went to work redoing
the music for the show. We had an excellent time rewriting the music and
the ending product was something that truly belonged to us. After all of
us went to college I decided to bring the Happy Hour with me and play it back on
the campus television network. I initially brought in the promotional
video to Episode II and it became an instant hit at Mount Union College in 1996.
It aired several times on the campus network. We all had a wonderful time
working on this episode and we're looking forward to starting up episode II.
We immediately began writing the script for episode II.
