At the left you'll see a professional model (my sweetie) showing off the Th!nk Bike Fun. We won this fun little jobbie in an internet based contest put on by Ford's Th!nk group! This is a modern technological marvel and a well named product -- it's enormously Fun to ride. It's based on the exploding electric bicycle market and employs sophisticated sensors to automatically compensate for the rider's input, or you can use the throttle to give a full boost from the 400 Watt motor (as long as the pedals keep moving, so as to qualify as a bicycle). Praises: great acceleration, range more than sufficient for most jobs, futuristic styling, fine craftsmanship, easy recharging. Complaints: overall a fairly heavy bike (all that lead in the battery!). I plan on using the bike to commute to work when the weather is cooperating. You can purchase this bike through Ford Th!nk's website. It costs around $1000. Update: As of 1 July 2002, Ford is no longer selling the Th!nk electric bike. There are, however, many other electric bikes on the market of good repute. (Copyright 2001 by JClaw Enterprises) |
