Thanks to Rusty Childress of Childress AutoMall in Phoenix, AZ, I was able to take this little beauty for a spin on a wonderful sunny Arizona day. As you can see (or not, since I failed to use the flash), the Lectra is a sporty little motorcycle with some eye-catching styling. Upon first seeing it in person, I was surprised at how small it is (I'm only 5'6"). It sits low to the ground and has good handling. It's got all the amenities of a gas motorcycle, and none of the drawbacks! Praises: excellent torque and acceleration from a dead-stop, low center of gravity gives great handling, nice throttle safety features, sharp styling, excellent craftsmanship and quality. Complaints: acceleration tapers off after 30mph, top speed only 45mph, range only about 30 miles/charge. Overall, for around town commuting this little wonder fits the bill nicely. I cannot over-emphasize how COOL this thing looks! Unfortunately, the company producing this motorbike went out of business a year or so ago. There are a few modern equivalents, though none as classy looking as the Lectra. Check out the Esarati and the Rad2Go electric motorcycles/scooters as well as the awesome new Voloci.
