Fried Apples

 

Peel, core and slice 6-7 apples.

Melt 1 stick butter in heavy skillet.

Add apple slices.

Top with:

1 c white sugar

1 c brown sugar

1 t vanilla

1 t cinnamon

2 t red hots crushed (optional)

1 t red food coloring (optional)

 

Stir carefully so as not to break slices. Cover and simmer on medium heat until apples are tender. Do not stir. Uncover and let liquid cook down to thin syrup stage.

Serve hot with biscuits.
