Caramels-Libby Lightner

Mix in heavy pan and heat and stir until all the sugar dissolves and mixture boils:

4 ½ c white sugar                   1 lb butter

1 tall can Pet Milk                 1 1/3 c dark Karo

1 ½ c white Karo                    pinch of salt

When mixture boils, add another tall can of Pet Milk.

Cook to hardball stage.

Add 1 t vanilla

Add ½ c chopped pecans (optional)

Pour onto buttered cookie tin

Cool. Cut in pieces.

Wrap in wax paper
