Politically Counterliberal

The underreported views of America's conservative students.

"As If Tomorrow Never Comes": Episode II

"Attention all students. Prom tickets are sold out. Again, prom tickets are sold out." And as such, my prom dilemma ends. After writing the previous essay regarding this dilemma, I found another person who I wanted to ask. I had even received some criticism from a few good friends two minutes after hearing the announcement. Ridicule is something with which I have lived my whole life. The moment somebody had confronted me, I finally knew that I would have no regret over my decision. I've always noticed that whenever I am not confronted with those who disagree, I start disagreeing with myself. I start having dilemmas much like the one I just had.

Thanks be to God that my decision was right. I thought about it to myself last night. "Why did I want to go out with this person?" I asked myself. I recalled that my former Christian school banned its students from dancing or attending proms, but it did have an alternative: a formal "banquet" in which no dancing occurred. The bottom line is that if my high school had a "banquet" instead of a promenade, I would not be so torn as to date somebody if no dancing was to occur.

Debate in itself is truly amazing. The arguments of my good friends only caused me to become more steadfast in my decision. It truly feels like God has given me these answers. Thanks be to Him.
