Developing a Mission Statement
The NBAS purposes:
a) to bring together individuals interested in the study and promotion of archaeology
b) to stimulate interest in the study of archaeology and to work for the general advancement of archaeology among the public
c) to provide a means for the exchange of information among professional and amateurs on a provincial level
d) to enhance the image of archaeology to various levels of government and to the general public across the province
e) to encourage the preservation of archaeological sites and to promote public awareness of the need to protect our archaeological heritage
f) to disseminate knowledge through the publication of reports and newsletters and through public programs
g) to promote and cooperate in the establishment of similar organizations throughout the province
h) to associate with other organizations sharing similar objectives
i) to review proposed amendments and new legislation in the field of archaeology
j) to do things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above [i.e. carry out financial activities]
