Skippy is a 15.2hh Standardbred gelding. I got him for my 18th birthday and have had him for just overthree years. Before I bought him, Skippy was a pacer and had been mistreated and neglected, so a lot of our relationship has been about gaining trust and getting healthy again. Unfortunately, despite my efforts to re-educate him for dressage, Skippy still had other ideas about how he'd like to live. While I aspired to Grand Prix Dressage, he aspired to being a bucking bronco!! When my instructor offered to lease Kai to me, I could not bear to part with Skip, and risk him being neglected again so have retired him on a 100 acre property. After a few weeks of settling in and finding his place in the pack, he seems to be quite enjoying himself now. He neighs and comes rushing over to me as soon as I call him, which is great as it saves me hiking all over the property looking for him!!!. I really miss spending time with him but I'm being kept busy by my new warmblood Kai.
UPDATE: I'm thinking of moving Skippy back to Sieger Park so I can spend some more time with him and take for the odd trail ride. The truth of it is, I just miss his cute big head too much!!! No horse can compare to your first horse.
