Welcome to Final Fantasy IX Info. That's right Final
Fantasy IX!!! Very few details have been released about the game
so far, but it looks set to be one of the best, and most original
games of the series. It has been confirmed that FFIX will be
released on the PlayStation in late 2000. Let the hype begin...
Early indications show that FFIX will revert back the roots of Final Fantasy, with a myth and magic, swords and dragons theme. Nothing has been officially confirmed by Squaresoft, however. But some attendants of Square's Millennium Conference leaked details, (and even video footage), of the games early progress against the wishes of Square. Final Fantasy Info will be covering all the developments of the latest title in the series, as and when details are released. |

SQUARE'S MILLENNIUM CONFERENCE, 28 January 2000
After months of delay Square finally held there conference on the future of the company, new titles, and most importantly the future of the Final Fantasy series. In a surprise move Squaresoft has released details of three new Final Fantasy titles: Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy XI. Along with the announcement of FFXI, Square also announced there new online gaming service: PlayOnline. A service dubbed as 'The Wave of the Future'. PlayOnline will take advantage of the PlayStation2's broad-band networking facilities to deliver a fast, and reliable system to it's gamers. Few details were released about FFIX but it is clear that Square are further ahead in it's schedule then anyone expected. for the most part only CG was shown, (which I might add is the most impressive I've seen on the PSX), but there were cut scene of characters running through caverns, cities, etc. It is probably that there will aim for a summer release, (add 4-6 months for the North American release and another 2-4 for the European release). So we could all be playing FFIX by Christmas! |
